The time is ripe for another Give Away... just this morning I posted my 300th post and this afternoon I got my 50th follower (thanks Julie!). Plus I just happened to have this sweet lil apron that I made especially to share with you all. It's all finished and ready to go... so here goes!
I call this my Monday morning apron because of the washday theme of the prints, and because my goal was to have it finished for a Monday morning post- but mostly because it's the perfect topper for a gloomy Monday morning. C'mon now, who wouldn't be cheerful with all this retro laundry jollity on their back?
The basic design is from an original pattern from the 1950's pictured here. The main fabric is a warm pale blue sprinkled with washtubs, bubbles and tiny dresses. The pockets and arm facings are a coordinating pink print with larger laundry day scenes that look like children's book illustrations from the 1950's. The neckline and hem are finished with bias trim handmade from vintage gingham. All fabrics are 100% cotton. By the way, you can click on any of these pictures for a super close-up of the details.
Size-wise this apron is a small to medium. The original pattern was for a 30" bust. (To which I retort: do they even make humans that small?) Needless to say I sized it up a bit. It fits a 32-36" bust comfortably and it fit another unnamed individual with a 40" bust, but more snugly. Your mileage may vary.
If you would like a chance to win the Monday morning apron, please comment on this post. And for an extra couple of chances, write a post on your own blog mentioning this Give Away and linking back here... just make sure you post back here with the link. I don't want to deny anyone her well-earned chances! I'll select a winner one week from today; June 29th, (which just so happens to be a Monday morning, mmhhmm.) And may the woman whose comment has the best randomly selected number win!

Awww, look at her in that apron! That is so sweet.
My mom is retired and her "business" now is sewing aprons and bonnets and making dolls. It can get monotonous but she is at that stage where she has uninterrupted time, so maybe that's part of it.

Crossing my fingers here! It's just darling ...
I blogged about it, too, here:

What a cute monday morning "jollity" apron! Ha! Love that new word, Diane!!
Well, I would certainly be in the "more snugly" bracket! ♥
Too cute! Wonder how it would fit on a lady with a pregnant waistline/bust?
lol Diane. I read here early when I got up [about 5am our time] but deliberately didn't comment because I didn't want you to have the hassle [on the off~chance I won] of shipping stuff half~way round the world. I read every last word too! :) I'm not much of a sewer but you write so engagingly I read anyway. I think your aprons are beautiful. I would hate to destroy one doing my usual while wearing one. I think most of my readers visit here anyway so pretty pointless to link but if I get a moment to~day [after I finish my epistle to Diane]I will send apron hungry readers your way. ;D
its really cute- and you sew so good! I have a pattern for a cool apron I tried to make it doesn't look so great- if i ever locate it again i am going to send it to you- you would love it! I also had a little jacket- kind of like a smock jacket that went over your clothes to work in- if I find them I will email you a pic and they are yours you will definitely do justice to them way beyond any I might.
What could be more fabulous than a washing apron? Maybe it would make me more excited about laundry . . .
Love the apron, and your dearie looks so fresh and pretty in it!
Please do enter me, as well. :)
It looks so pretty on Millen! I love it! Thank you for sharing this delightful apron.
i'm so pleased you have entered! And to all you overseas gals (who shall remain nameless;) please DO enter! I will happily mail it overseas... as long as it doesn't cause you concerns with customs or anything☺
oh and rachel.. i think it would fit a baby belly ok. not great but it would be wearable... if you tied it up over the bump;)
Here's the link to my post for an extra chance at winning:

Oh that is adorable!! Way cute. I'm just starting to sew myself - er, not sew *myself*.. although I've nearly done that several times as well. Y'know what I mean - but I can't make cuteness like that yet. I'd love to get in on a chance!
>^..^<

Oh, it is SO cute! (Of course!)
I love those big deep pockets! My daughter declared this the summer of the sundress and the idea has caught on. Hers are short, mine are longer and an apron on top would be sooo sweet.
Diane,
I love, love, love your apron, it looks so delightful.
Since I have already won one of your lovely give aways, please do not enter me. I just had to stop by to say it's beautiful.
Also, I have unwrapped a lovely package that arrived on Friday. I'll write more later. Life is full and very busy.
I look forward to seeing who wins the beautiful prize.
Hugs to you,
Carol
This is only my second time commenting but I never miss a post because I subscribed to you through Bloglines as soon as I found your blog. I didn't enter the last draw because I am in Canada and then I read that a Canadian won. I am embarrassed to enter your draw because I only left a comment once but I am going to get over it now, since you are giving us a second chance and all (c; Your apron is so sweet!
PS: I am also a perfectionistic seamstress (sewist?) who considered sewing for money but gave up on the idea for the same reasons you did. For several years I gave up on sewing altogether but am back at it now for the simple reason that I have trouble finding modest, pretty things to buy in the stores.
It's just too cute!!
I'd link it to a blog, if I had a real one...
instead of the sham one that I "started" once upon a time. Maybe I ought to put somethings on it once in a while, so I could put links like this on it to increase my chances of winning. Best idea I've had in a while, I think!
What a beautiful apron! I pray that whoever wins it enjoys many pleasant culinary hours working in it.
